14 Lessons Every Man Must Learn in His 20s | Thread
1. Conflict is a forge. Studies should show that being Mr. Accommodating drops your testosterone off the graph. Men shouldnât seek conflict, but they shouldnât shrink from it either.
2. You don't have to like it to eat it. These days, people think every bite has to be a porterhouse pleasure and will refuse to eat foods they don't enjoy. Weak. You need to eat high-quality food regardless of what it tastes like.
3. If you're not scared, you're not going fast enough. Man needs to push himself to be sure he's not aiming too low. Explore some limits. Never be less than you were born to be.
4. Pay your bills and wake up on time In other words, become responsible. No more missed bill payments. No more showing up for work late. Stop staying up till all hours of the night playing video games, then rolling into work late, hung-over, and sleep-deprived.
5. Adopt the 5-hour rule If you want to be a great man, you need to level up your mind. Spend 1 hour a day, 5 days a week, leveling up your knowledge and practicing to get better at something you want to master.
6. Learn to fight Start boxing. Take karate lessons. Take up MMA. This makes you dangerous, increases your confidence and gives you the option to choose to be peaceful instead of forcing it upon you.
7. Find a mentor Students with mentors are much more likely to advance their careers successfully. Who do you admire in life? Find a way to plug their advice into your ears, and listen.
8. Donât complain Complaining doesnât help to fix problems. In fact, it often only serves to perpetuate them. So stop complaining, and start finding solutions.
9. Spend less time on your phone Far too many men in our modern-day get sucked into their phones. Turn it off for an hour or two every day and delete apps that are a waste of time.
10. Donât watch porn Gaining pleasure from watching porn is literally cucking yourself. Enough said.
11. Donât make women the mission of your life Too many men believe âhappy wife, happy life,â is the way to live. Find a purpose, meaning, a vision for your future, goals, excellence, pride, and grit. This is the way to live.
12. Write down your goals People who regularly write down their goals earn 9 times as much as people who donât. It may sound corny but the quote âwithout a goal, you canât scoreâ is very accurate.
13. Confront and defeat your shame Carl Jung once said that âShame is a soul-eating emotion.â Take a close look at your negative emotions, and realize that the root causes are almost always rooted in shame.
14. Level up your self-discipline Self-discipline is absolutely an essential key to becoming a better man. What we donât accomplish will only become regret when we grow older. Thereâs nothing scarier than regret.
My eBook âBecome Self-Disciplinedâ includes discipline tactics from ex-Navy SEALs David Goggins and Jocko Willink. If you want to build willpower, develop self-control, and strengthen your mental fortitude, this is for you.
